Bringing a Global Entertainment Icon to Life
Minion Land at Universal Studios Singapore is a vibrant, immersive attraction inspired by the globally recognized Despicable Me and Minions franchise. Designed as a fully themed environment, the development integrates rides, retail, dining, and entertainment across multiple zones—creating a dynamic experience for visitors of all ages.
The hardscape design plays a critical role in reinforcing the whimsical and energetic identity of Minion Land. Bright colors, fluid shapes, and playful patterns are integrated throughout the environment, guiding movement while enhancing the overall storytelling experience.
A Complex Integration of Decorative Concrete Systems
The project features an extensive combination of decorative concrete systems, including Bomanite Imprint finishes, Bomanite Exposed Aggregate surfaces, and integral color applications. Custom textures—such as timber and slate effects—were developed to align with the creative direction, resulting in a diverse yet cohesive ground plane across the park.
All colors and surface patterns were fully customized to meet strict art direction requirements from international design teams. A wide palette—including tones such as amber, gray, and tan—was used to create contrast and visual layering, enhancing the immersive quality of the space.
Precision Execution in an Active Theme Park Environment
Construction was carried out within an operational theme park, requiring careful coordination to avoid disruption to existing attractions. The project also involved multiple trades working simultaneously within tight spaces, demanding precise planning and disciplined execution.
One of the key challenges was the seamless transition between different materials and finishes, particularly in areas featuring curved and swirl-shaped designs. Achieving smooth connections across various systems required a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail.
