Poenya Nyonya Anina Café
A retro-inspired café in Surabaya featuring customized decorative concrete finishes that blend nostalgic charm with modern durability through Indocrete’s stamping and polishing systems.
A Nostalgic Destination for Retro-Inspired Culinary Experiences
Located in Surabaya, Poenya Nyonya Anina Café was designed as a nostalgic culinary destination that blends retro-inspired charm with modern comfort. To bring this vision to life, the project utilized decorative concrete as a refined architectural feature that balanced timeless aesthetics with long-term durability.
Inspired by Retro-Classic Charm and Modern Comfort
The café’s design concept centered on creating a warm and inviting atmosphere through lighter concrete tones, decorative textures, and vintage-inspired motifs. Rather than using conventional gray finishes, customized surface treatments were developed to enhance natural lighting and complement the café’s retro-classic interiors. The combination of stamped and polished concrete created visual contrast while maintaining a cohesive design language throughout the space.
Refined Surfaces for Aesthetic Warmth and Durability
The project utilized the Bomanite Imprint System and Bomanite Custom Polishing System to deliver durable, low-maintenance surfaces with distinct visual character. The selected motifs and color palette were carefully chosen to reinforce the café’s nostalgic identity while maintaining a clean and contemporary feel. These solutions allowed the project to achieve both aesthetic refinement and practical performance suited for a high-traffic hospitality environment.
Coordinated Execution for Complex Textures
A key challenge involved protecting the detailed stamped textures during the Supercrete grinding and polishing process. Through precise scheduling, protective measures, and coordinated workflows, the installation team successfully preserved each finish without compromise, translating intricate design concepts into a cohesive built environment.
The Outcome
Poenya Nyonya Anina Café now stands as a striking example of how decorative concrete can elevate hospitality spaces. By merging craftsmanship, texture, and durability, the environment is rich in character, functionality, and lasting visual appeal.
