A New Model for Urban IP-Themed Experiences

POP Land Theme Park introduces a fresh approach to themed entertainment—designed as a compact, content-driven destination centered on immersive intellectual property (IP) experiences. Located within Beijing’s Chaoyang Park, the project contributes to a broader urban renewal initiative that blends culture, commerce, and tourism.

Designing for Interaction and Everyday Escape

Rather than a large-scale theme park, POP Land is conceived as a “light” experience—encouraging interaction through retail, games, food, and family-oriented activities. The landscape and hardscape design support this vision by creating a cohesive environment that invites exploration and engagement.

Unified Ground Plane Through Decorative Concrete

Spanning approximately 20,000 square meters, Bomanite Imprint Systems and Bomanite Exposed Aggregate Systems were used to unify the landscape. These systems provide flexibility for varied spatial experiences while maintaining visual consistency across the park.

The concrete systems deliver strong load-bearing capacity and reliable slip resistance, ensuring long-term performance in a dynamic public setting.

Balancing Design with Architectural Identity

The hardscape was carefully designed to enhance—not compete with—the park’s architectural and IP elements, achieving a balance between visual interest and spatial clarity.

Despite tight timelines and overlapping construction phases, the project was successfully delivered through a coordinated design-build approach, ensuring smooth execution across multiple systems and finishes.

Today, POP Land stands as a vibrant experiential space—where decorative concrete supports immersive storytelling, social interaction, and modern urban lifestyles.
