Silly Swirly, Minion Land Singapore
Located within Minion Land at Universal Studios Singapore, Silly Swirly is a whimsical aerial carousel attraction designed to immerse guests in the playful world of the Minions from the moment they enter the queue. Spanning the carousel, entrance, and queue areas, the project required a highly customized flooring solution capable of translating the attraction’s vibrant creative vision into a durable and functional environment. To achieve this, the project incorporated a sophisticated combination of the Bomanite Imprint System, Bomanite Toppings, Integral Color, and custom decorative concrete applications.
Working closely with the strict artistic direction established by Universal Creative teams from the United States and Japan, the Bomanite systems were used to create a seamless visual journey filled with dynamic patterns, bold colors, and intricate transitions that reinforce the attraction’s energetic character.
Design Concept
The flooring design was conceived as an extension of the attraction itself, transforming the ground plane into an interactive visual experience. Swirl-shaped features, tapered plank patterns, and custom geometric transitions were carefully crafted to reflect the playful movement and imaginative spirit of the ride. Rather than serving as a simple surface treatment, the decorative concrete became a key storytelling element within the guest experience.
Integral Color was incorporated throughout the installation to provide vibrant, long-lasting color that remains embedded within the concrete. This approach supports long-term maintenance objectives while ensuring the attraction retains its visual impact despite heavy foot traffic and continuous operation.
Material Selection & Installation
The project utilized more than six distinct Bomanite flooring systems and custom finishes, creating a complex composition of textures, colors, and patterns. The Bomanite Imprint System and Bomanite Toppings provided the flexibility required to achieve highly customized decorative effects, while Integral Color enhanced durability by minimizing the need for future color restoration.
One of the project’s greatest technical challenges involved coordinating numerous material terminations within a confined construction environment. Complex swirl-shaped features required precise alignment between finishes, while multiple trades worked simultaneously within active areas of Universal Studios Singapore. Careful planning, sequencing, and craftsmanship ensured every transition remained clean, consistent, and true to the original design intent.

Silly Swirly stands as a showcase of the versatility and creative potential of Bomanite systems within themed entertainment environments. The seamless integration of custom patterns, vibrant colors, and decorative concrete finishes transforms the attraction into an immersive destination that delights guests before they even board the ride.
