State Islamic University of Malang III
State Islamic University of Malang III represents a significant expansion of one of Indonesia’s leading Islamic universities, creating a campus environment that celebrates education, culture, and identity. Located in Malang, East Java, the development was envisioned as more than an academic facility. It was designed as a landmark that reflects Islamic values while supporting the university’s long-term growth and influence within the region. Through the Bomanite Custom Polishing System, Indocrete translated intricate architectural concepts into durable, visually compelling built elements that reinforced the project's cultural identity.
Working closely with the project’s architectural team, Indocrete provided the flexibility and craftsmanship necessary to achieve a design language inspired by Arabian and Middle Eastern architecture. Through customized patterns, textures, and finishes, the decorative concrete applications became an integral component of the campus identity.
Design Concept
The design concept was rooted in cultural authenticity and architectural symbolism. Inspired by traditional Middle Eastern forms and motifs, the project sought to create an environment that reflects the university’s Islamic character while fostering a sense of place for students, faculty, and visitors. Decorative concrete was selected for its ability to accommodate intricate detailing and customized designs without compromising durability or functionality.
Natural earth-toned finishes and carefully crafted ornamental patterns were incorporated throughout the project to reinforce the spiritual and academic atmosphere of the campus. The result is a cohesive architectural expression that balances contemporary educational facilities with timeless cultural influences, creating spaces that feel both welcoming and meaningful.
Material Selection & Installation
Bomanite custom polishing system was chosen for its exceptional versatility and ability to achieve highly specialized design requirements. The system allowed complex motifs and detailed surface treatments to be reproduced with precision while maintaining the strength, durability, and low-maintenance qualities required for a major educational institution.
The complexity of the design presented significant execution challenges. Intricate patterns demanded meticulous planning, skilled craftsmanship, and precise installation techniques to ensure consistency across the project. Despite the additional time and resources required, the Indocrete team remained committed to preserving the architectural vision, carefully executing every detail to achieve the desired aesthetic and technical standards.
The Outcome
Today, State Islamic University of Malang III stands as a powerful example of how decorative concrete can contribute to architectural identity and cultural expression. The customized finishes enhance the campus environment, creating spaces that reflect the university’s values while enriching the daily experience of its growing student population.
Beyond its architectural impact, the development serves as a catalyst for regional growth. The arrival of thousands of new students is expected to generate economic opportunities for local businesses and transform the surrounding area into a thriving community hub. Through its contribution to the project, Indocrete helped create a campus that supports education, celebrates heritage, and inspires future generations.
